activate an addon by Command Line ?

an admin can install an addon by Command Line like

util/addons install wiki

is there also a way to activate an addon by Command Line ?

@𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼 I don't see a solution. util/addons is only for installing, uninstalling, reinstalling and listing add-ons.

I then looked at util/pconfig, but I can't find an option to activate installed add-ons. I don't have any other ideas.

I would assume that the state of activation is stored in the database, so maybe a command to change a value in the database would do the trick.

hah! yeah separate apps for different tasks. i dont know the hubzilla software database to tell you and there may even be data file procesees involved. ask chatgpt to search the latest source code to tell you a php script to run but as with warranties that may make it difficult for support forums to help if it breaks your installation. but the util command looks like it installs the addon for you and you can enable it in hubzilla. can you tell me why you wish to do it manually? well we got carried away, i dont know if the util command also has an enable command i realize you're wishing to setup an autoinstall script or something.

In Hubzilla, addon settings such as whether an addon is enabled are managed through the system configuration. Settings related to addons are stored in the configuration database and can be manipulated using the util/config command-line utility. For instance, to enable or disable an addon, you would use commands like util/config addon enabled 1 to enable or util/config addon enabled 0 to disable it. This utility directly interacts with the Hubzilla configuration database where these settings are stored

No offence, but we knew that!

This method is used to install or uninstall Adoons for the entire hub. This corresponds to setting the checkmarks in the admin web interface.

But I think @𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼 wanted to know if there is also a command that can be used to install the add-on app for a specific channel in that channel. And where in the database this is stored for the individual channels.

The administrative installation/activation merely puts the add-ons in the ‘pool’ for users to install for use in a specific channel. And apparently that can't be done via CLI. And we're still looking for where that's stored in the DB for each channel... that is, which apps it uses.

In the channel table, you can find all channels, but there's no column where the apps are mentioned in any way.

It's not as easy as I thought.

Ultimately, a block would have to be added to the PDL for the app view, which then links to the corresponding help page (currently still external at https://help.hubzilla.hu/en/usermanual/apps.html - but will be integrated into the internal help in the near future)... something like this:

i was looking for a command which would help to activate an app by the admin so that the admin does not need not do check ins on the page /admin/addons/

an option to activate an app for every channel by default would be also great to have

For today I give up.

My experiments have failed.

The traditional example doesn't work. The class-based one results in an error 500.

It seems that simply passing an html string as the return value of the widget function is somehow not enough.

I used the examples as they are also listed in the Hubzilla help (and are shown in the new hub examples).

The essence of the examples is that the return value of a widget function or method (in the class-based example) is an html string that is then rendered:

    ... widget code goes here.
    ... The function returns a string which is the HTML content of the widget.
    ... $args is a named array which is passed any [var] variables from the layout editor
    ... For instance [widget=slugfish][var=count]3[/var][/widget] will populate $args with
    ... [ 'count' => 3 ]

For the functionality I am aiming for – a widget that displays a link to the app help – the html code

as the return value. I would have expected that this html code would then be rendered at the point where the widget is placed.

After the simple example, the php code for the widget would be very simple:

No, it works without it.

The error was mine, or rather my carelessness.

I took the example from the Widgets.md file from the Hubzilla core and replaced the comment section that says that html code should be used as the return value with the return of the html string (the a-href link).

I simply didn't notice that the second closing curly bracket was missing from the code example.

I added it... and the widget worked as simply as I had created it.

But the fact is that the example with a simple function call no longer works.

I have revised the help to reflect this (corrected the example and removed the simple function).
