Dave Winer hat wohl ein paar interessante Gedanken dazu geäußert, dass praktisch fast alle Apps die API von Mastodon verwenden, obwohl es doch Alternativen dazu gibt. Die erwähnte MetaWeblog-API war mir allerdings bisher komplett unbekannt.
Ich hab allerdings Zweifel, dass es bei den App-Entwicklern zu einem Umdenken kommt.
