Malfunctions in interactions with Friendica: Post them here!
Apparently, there are obstacles in the way of interactions between Hubzilla and either certain Friendica actors or certain Friendica nodes. These include but are probably not limited to:
- a Hubzilla channel being unable to follow a Friendica account
- vice versa, a Friendica account reporting to be unable to follow a Hubzilla channel, usually along with the above
- comments from Hubzilla on Friendica posts not showing up on Friendica (either reported by the original poster on Friendica or by other spectators on Friendica)
- comments Friendica on Hubzilla posts (or any kind of posts?) never arriving on Hubzilla
- searching posts or comments from a Friendica account on Hubzilla continuing indefinitely without finding anything
Now a few of us would like to investigate this further to try and find out what's going so awfully wrong here.
The first thing we need to do is
find out whether there's any pattern in this.Does it always occur in interactions between Hubzilla and certain Friendica nodes? If so, then the problem might lie within the settings of those Friendica nodes.
If not, does it always occur in interactions between Hubzilla and certain Friendica accounts? If so, then the problem might lie within the individual settings of those Friendica accounts or rather how Friendica handles them.
Or does it only occur for certain Hubzilla hubs, but in interaction with certain entire nodes?
Does it concern all interaction? If not, which interaction does it concern, and which doesn't it?
In order to try and find any pattern,
we'll need to collect instances of malfunctions between Friendica. And I hereby ask all of you to submit such incidents in comments here in this thread, including the following information:- the Hubzilla channel and hub involved
- the Friendica account and node involved
- what exactly didn't work, and all of it (e.g. Hubzilla connecting to Friendica, Friendica connecting to Hubzilla, Hubzilla commenting on Friendica, Friendica commenting on Hubzilla, Hubzilla searching for Friendica post, Hubzilla searching for Friendica comment etc.; if multiple things didn't work, we'll need all of them mentioned)
- whether it was attempted using ActivityPub or the Diaspora* protocol
However,
if there are examples, we'll also need counter-examples, but only if there are examples. If someone reports difficulties in interactions with a certain Friendica node or with a certain Friendica user, and someone else has no such difficulties, we need this information as well. For now, we do
not need information on working interactions if no difficulties have been reported; that'd just clutter the thread.
Example: If I report that I can't search for posts or comments from a certain Friendica user, but you can search for the same posts/comments from the same user all right, say so.
This also means: If you have a clone, and something doesn't work with your main instance,
try again with your clone. If it fails on your main instance, but it works on your clone, this means whatever is wrong is not wrong for all of Hubzilla. This would be important information, too.
I suggest you save this thread in a folder and/or star it so you can find it when you discover something isn't working in interaction with Friendica.#
