[Feature Request] - Mark all forum posts as read

If you are a member of a forum or a group, you may be familiar with the status messages in the stream/pubstream etc. A notification about a message is displayed and requires you to open the stream. Wouldn't it make sense to have a switch here that “Marks all forum posts as read”? Similar to the one in the stream where all messages can be marked as read.

@Markus Well, obviously it makes sense to you :) Request it, then :) +1 btw.
Personally i'd prefer a complete notifications redesign. I'd love to be able to separately switch on/off notifications for friends/connects, forums/groups, events/dates, repeats/shares/boosts and all others separately, and not to find such control deeply buried in some setting somewhere, but straight away on my notifications panel.

I think the existing notifications system works great, although I might suggest some changes.

One thing that I would like to see is an inbox, which shows all incoming messages in a paginated inbox, read and unread (email style). It would give you an alternate view of your incoming messages, and allow you to find older messages you want to come back to.

@Scott M. Stolz I've too many notifications to deal with it like this. I need broader tools, as described above. Seems like Hubzilla finds it hard to deal with users, that have lots of connections. It's time to supply them, as people don't want to spend too much time organizing their messages, they want them handable quickly, exactly and in interest-focussed groups as fast as possible. Gets me to: We also need lists. But that's for another thread. @Markus

I understand @Markus intention.
It's not about notifications in general, but specifically about those that affect forums.
Today, the server running Whoville was down for a few hours. So I checked my channel on my other hub, Klackerhub.
The forums now had a 99+ score. Clearly, I hadn't used the channel on Klackerhub for quite some time either.
In the support forum here, there were 347 unseen notifications. And that's where Markus' wish makes sense. As with other notification categories (e.g. “network”), there should also be the option to select “Mark all notifications as seen” to reset the counter to zero.
In forums, you currently have to go to the forum and scroll down endlessly, whereby ten notifications are deducted for each ten events. So you really have to ‘look at’ all the things (scroll past them) to finally mark the notifications as seen. And just leaving the counter as it is is not an option either, because from 99 notifications on, it only says ‘99+’ and you don't notice when a new notification is added that might be interesting.
I agree with Markus' suggestion to also introduce a “Mark all notifications as seen” option there.

@Der Pepe (Hubzilla) ⁂ ⚝ Thank you Pepe, you have summed up my intention perfectly. In my opinion, the example described is a bit cumbersome, because sometimes it is only a "Like" that requires the stream to be called up in order to process the notifications.

It may be that the notification system needs an overhaul. Personally, however, I can largely come to terms with it as it is. The ideas from @*_jayrope and @Scott M. Stolz certainly make sense and would enhance Hubzilla accordingly.

@*_jayrope One of the features of the proposed inbox would be to be able to filter the list of messages in all sorts of ways. When you combine it with notification controls you describe, this would give you a very powerful way to navigate incoming messages. For example, you could turn off notifications about boosts, but then still be able to view them at your leisure in your inbox. You can use your inbox to view lists. Etc.

Yes, the stream page allows you to filter. But once you load the stream page, everything is considered read and flagged read. That is, unless you configure your channel to basically flag everything read manually by and by.

@Jupiter Rowland That is exactly why I don't like using the stream page as the inbox. I don't want to get rid of the stream page. It is useful for doomscrolling. But if I am looking for specific types of messages or specific messages, an filterable inbox would be better.

A perfect example is that I don't want to be notified of boosts, but I do want to read them at my leisure.
