@od HOW did you create a cloud directory ‘with a profile’? How do you switch profiles as a user? As mentioned, profiles are simply different ‘business cards’ for the same channel, which are displayed to different visitors depending on the settings. They only show the visitor different personal information. However, the visitor always interacts with the same channel.

I was unable to ‘switch profiles’ in a test channel and thus create a new cloud. This is simply not possible and would not make any sense.

A file folder with the path /path/to/hubzilladomain/cloud/profile'x' simply does not exist. If cadaver does something for you, it is certainly not what you expect (when I tried it out for fun, it crashed with a segmentation fault, so I couldn't even get to ‘ls’).

The documentation explains how to use the cloud, including with WebDAV. Since you have your channel at Zotum (dev branch), you can already find the new documentation there... on this topic, see here: Cloud storage

For each channel, there is no option 'view channel'. The only option is 'view profile'

For another channel 'Y', the option 'view profile' shows a field 'full name'
Select 'edit profile' when in channel Y (this option is a separate bug; is should be 'edit channel').

Module 'files' is accessible only via the url of the channel name. If the channel field 'full name' is changed' via 'edit profile' (!), the webDAV url is the original channel name, with any space characters removed automatically

If a complete web address returns any content (even though direct access is not intended) that the browser cannot display, it will look like this. This is not a Hubzilla error, nor is it a browser error, but rather a user mistake. However, it is not a big deal. At least the error message makes it clear that what you were hoping for is not happening.

The browser does not ‘speak dav’ unless it has been made to do so by a plugin (such a browser plugin usually requires the correct protocol to be specified, i.e. instead of ‘https://’, you have to prefix it with ‘dav://’). The address hubzilladomain/dav/channelname is not intended for web browsers, but for dav clients. In the browser, the access address is always hubzilladomain/cloud/channelname.

If you are asked for authentication when connecting to the dav client, the username is the channel name (NOT the channel handle, just the short name of the channel... in your case, for example, ‘od’). The password is your account password.

And now I'll try to explain it again. With Hubzilla, you only need one account per hub. You can create as many channels as you want with each account. The channel is your basic identity in the Fediverse and only includes a channel short name. The channel short name is what appears in the handle before ‘@<hubzilladomain>’. For you, for example, this would be ‘od’. Each channel has at least one profile, namely the default profile. The profile is your channel's ‘business card’. It also includes ‘Your full name’. This full name is displayed in the browser's title bar (or on the tab) and also appears on certain pages as a ‘human-readable’ name in the short profile. This ‘full name’ can and may be completely different from the actual channel name (i.e. short name). So, in your channel's default profile, you could enter ‘od@zotum.net’ as your full name and ‘The Great Zampano’ as your short name. This would then appear in the browser's title bar when you open your channel home page. It would also appear in the short profile tile in the sidebar. If a guest visits your channel page, your full name will be displayed in this tile... and your channel handle will appear below it. This also applies when a visitor visits your profile page.

Now, each channel you have can have as many profiles as you want. These differ in terms of what information you disclose about yourself and who can see this profile information. So you can create another profile with different (perhaps more specific) personal information that is not displayed to everyone (like the standard profile), but only to selected users. You could create an extra profile where, instead of just ‘od’ as your full name, you could have ‘The Great Zampano’... and a few other personal details. And you make this profile visible to your closest friends. When they visit your channel page, for example, they will see ‘The Great Zampano’ in the short profile tile and ‘od@zotum.net’ below it (i.e. your channel handle, which ALWAYS remains the same for a channel, regardless of how many profiles you create with different full names). You can only change your full name under Edit Profile. When you create a new channel, you will also be asked for a full name. However, this is only for the purpose of giving the default profile, which is always created automatically, a name. This is not a channel setting (which is why you won't find it in the Settings menu, but where it belongs: when editing your profile).
